BLUE FESCUE

An excellent ornamental grass for groundcover with silvery blue foliage that grows in low dense mounds 4-10" high. The mounds do not grow together, they remain as fountain-like tufts. Blue Fescue is not a good lawn grass, but when planted as an accent it contrasts nicely with broad-leafed perennials and Sedums. It retains its silvery-blue color all winter long. In the summer blue purple flower spikes on foot long stems appear and ripen into flat fans of seeds. Cutting back to ground level after flowering helps keep plants from looking shabby.
